Playboy without nudity = Espresso without caffeine?

Playboy magazine, minus the nudity, made its debut in the Philippines yesterday. They have golong tikar in Indonesia when advertisers withdrew their backings following an almost nationwide protest.

The editor-in-chief of the Filipino edition believed the predominantly Roman Catholic Philippines would be more tolerant toward Playboy than neighbouring Indonesia. He said the Filipino edition of Playboy are targetting "the dads instead of lads". Hmm, the family man ploy?

Playboy Philippines would feature typical Filipino beauties but not celebrities, along with fashion, motoring, sports and technology features. Thirty percent of its content will come from the U.S. edition.

So when will we get to see Playboy Malaysia or Playboy Singapore? A friend said no need, so many "playboys" in KL already, no need to have them in printed circulation. -__-

Philippine Playboy first girl and Ms. Earth 2004 winner Priscilla Meirelles (3-L) along with Playboy playmates and bunnies hold the first copy of Philippine Playboy edition during a launching ceremony in Manila, Philippines, 02 April 2008.

If it ever comes here, you can expect that it'll create history!

It'll be the first playboy ever to feature every single mag with no nudity, none whatsoever with fully covered clothing and the only thing visible are the eyeballs!

LOL

FHM in msia also getting thinner and thinner and not much content.

advertisers are not happy to advertise in there. editors are being fired all the time. 2007 =changed 4 editors.

no way playboy can make it here. unless they really can survive on their good articles alone.

yes, i read their articles b4 and they are pretty good.

The industry in Malaysia is getting more challenging. Any new magazine group would find it hard, ad revenue is not that easy to come by, and margin is razor thin. So I do agree... they ain't gonna come here based on profitability reason alone.
