Cheaper Cars in Malaysia... good news or bad news?
CHIA n. car
The Malaysian Government has announced a new tax structure that will see car prices falling very soon- both imported and locally-assembled cars. Other important changes under the National Automative Policy include the abolishment of Approved Permits by 2011, and disallowing import and sale of sub-standard vehicles... (ahem, Kancil).
Now, is that good news or bad news for Malaysians? Do we really need cheaper cars?
Well, the good news is, this is an excellent opportunity to make a sound, and profitable investment. We must all invest in fuel and energy companies. With cheaper cars and higher fuel price, there is only one sure trend. Profits are virtually guaranteed in fuel/energy stocks. Sisuahlai made 110% profit in energy shares in 2005. So can you.
Well the bad news... my Ah Lian neighbour is going to get her mini-Ah Lian daughter a car for her 21st birthday.

hope kuching wouldn't become a place full of junk cars later
I would say...good...but knowing Malaysia...there'll probably be a lot of 'loopholes' & 'fine-line prints' that will catch the ordinary car purchaser by surprise...
I'll email you pixs of my car ;)
Might not be full of junk cars in Kch. If the price really drops, the prestige of owning BMWs,Mercs,Audis and such will also decrease since some borderline cases who cant afford those cars can now buy them.Kch might have more luxury cars but at the expense of first movers(i.e. people who own those lux cars before the policy).
i wanna doraemon ferrari plz..
vanquish, i totally agree with you, bro!
and hell no, i ain't gonna own THAT pink colour-cum-hello kitty infested art of motoring excellence - how can you do that to a Ferrari!?!?!?!?
btw, even without the price drop, kuching already infested with junk cars now - ie super old old models and dunno what elaborately modified local cars...haiyo!
I'll rather be seen in dat kitty car than a kancil! Ooops! *running to hide now*!!
*nods* so kuching will be full of luxury+junk cars -> high petrol consumptions+traffic jams = unsustainable environment. *sigh*
Oh ... come on, fh20, some people consider themselves lucky if they can own a Kancil or any affordable car. Let's not be pompous, high-and-mighty asses, shall we? It's nice to be grateful for what we have and can afford. Kuching, unfortunately, already has too many people who "kua beh khi" other people; and that's not a good thing.
