Latest score: one to Pak Lah and one to Mahathir

Our dear PM has finally spoken out against Dr Mahathir.

ding, ding, ding... LETTT'SSSS RUMMMMMMMM---BBBBBBLE!

According to the Star report:

"There is no stopping (Dr Mahathir's) slew of accusations. He claims there is no freedom of media. Does he not remember that during his time, he asked the media to 'block out' stories and photos of (former Prime Minister) Tun Hussein Onn and not give coverage to certain people," Abdullah said.

"As for Operasi Lalang, don't forget who's responsible," he said, in reference to the 1987 crackdown in which over 100 people were arrested under the Internal Security Act for purportedly causing racial tension and posing a threat to national security."

Personally, I like our PM Abdullah Ahmad Badawi a lot. There is no doubt that he has inherited an administration that requires a lot of cleaning up. In the last 3 or 4 years, a lot of unwanted dirt has been unearthed, thanks to his eagerness to appear open, fair and transparent. I am sure there are a lot of more still lie buried. I don't see this as a sign of weakness, like many tried to portray him, but courage and self-belief. He is one of the cleaner politicians around, that was why Mahathir selected as his successor- possibly as a way to cleanse Dr M's own legacy.

But his choice has bitten back.

You don't see the Opposition party asking for Abdullah to resign. It is those within the UMNO ranks who are shouting and screaming for this - the opportunistic ones (Razaleigh Hamzah?) and the ones that have a lot to hide (Mahathir's camp?).

For the rest of us, we are quite happy to have the ringside view and just watch this circus.
