Back to Blogging

JIET adv. feeling annoyed
LAU JIET v.,n. bustling

It's good to be back.

So much has happened since my last regular blog entries days. Malaysia won the men's All-England doubles (at last), Anna Nicole Smith gave up her millions (for good), someone scored 24 As in SPM (more Milli Vanilli than synthetic vanilla), this year's American Idol winner is a woman (Sanjaya?), and Angelina adopts another Asian kid (why not me!).

But the story that caught my eye today is this...
A certain Malaysian minister recently commented (or allegedly to have said) that bloggers were liars and that they were mostly jobless women.
It is hard to get away with such comments as politicians in European countries. A minister in Great Britain had to resign after some off-the-cuff remarks which in my opinion, were less offensive than the one above. The English minister said it was ok for military personnels to use racial name-calling during military practice as a way to urge and motivate the team. He later offered his apology and resigned from his shadow ministerial role.

Now going back to our 'beloved, Yang Amat Berhormat' Malaysian minister. He was asked to comment about those offensive remarks about bloggers when speaking to reporters. He tried to justify his point of view by explaining:

He loved all women.

He was here because of a woman.

Most of his supporters in his constituency are women.

He made his original statement in reference to an Indonesian journalist. (So?)

I don't know what you're thinking. BUT HOW ON EARTH DID HE GET AWAY WITH THAT?
